Come out on December 17th and join in the 107th Annual Celebration of the Wright Brothers First Flight.  The celebration is being held at the Wright Brothers National Memorial from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  You'll be able to gather at the exact site at the exact time as the historic flight.  Come out and celebrate this historic milestone.

The daylong anniversary tribute will be held at the site of Wright’s first flight. Visitors to the site experience a replica of the Wright Brothers’ 1903 encampment and majestic, 60-foot tall granite monument perched atop a 90-foot hill that serves a striking and lasting reminder of the important historical achievement that happened on this site a century ago.

There is a lot of talk right now about an overnight snowshower hitting the Outer Banks.  The current Kill Devil Hills weather forecast looka like it is going to stay too warm but you never know. 

Waking up Sunday morning to some snow on the ground would not be too bad.  We'll keep you informed and take some pictures if the snow actually happens.

It should be a great weekend in the Outer Banks.  The Outer Banks Marathon will be run for its 5th year.  Since its inception the marathon has grown exponentially.  This year they expect over 5,000 runners and a total economic impact of over $4,000,000.

Come on out on October 23rd and enjoy a run through the beautiful Lost Colony in Manteo.  This event is being held by the Outer Banks Running Club. 

  

the-colony-lost-and-found-5k How would you like to run through the same land where The Lost Colony once roamed? This inaugural event is a 5K cross-country course which traverses through the same spot which Chief Manteo and Chief Wanchese once inhabited. How will you fare?


This course will take you through The Lost Colony, Fort Raleigh and the woods of Roanoke Island, returning on our ‘new’ bike path.


The post race party includes refreshments. Don’t forget your cameras as you will have a chance to take your picture with Sir Walter Raleigh and Queen Elizabeth. Music will be provided by Outer Banks DJ services.
