Global Surf Network is hosting the 2011 Hatteras Island Surf Film Festival on Saturday, August 22nd. It will be held at Kitty Hawk Kites in Waves. Music will start at 4pm featuring the Jesse Hines Band. The films start at 9pm.

US News & World Report is out with there Top 10 beaches in the United States. The beaches of the Outer Banks were only beat by Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands. The Outer Banks was the first beach named, not on an island and first mainland US beach to make the list. Pretty exclusive company.

5th Annual Outer Banks Watermelon Festival

Thursday August 11th is the date for this year's Kitty Hawk Kites Watermelon Festival. Its a day of fun for the entire family. Music, games, food, and more are all part of each year's Watermelon Festival. For more information on this year's festival events@kittyhawk.com.
Volunteers are also needed for the festival. If you can volunteer, you can download the volunteer application. Proceeds from the event go to help the Wright Flight Foundation.
