Great news for anyone looking to move to the Outer Banks, who wants a good local college program. The College of the Albemarle has just been announced as the #1 Community College in North Carolina by Schools.com.

The DailyAdvance reported:

In an article last month, Schools.com ranked COA the best of the state's 58 community colleges, praising it for its affordability, accessibility and other factors. Taking second and third place in Schools.com’s rankings were Craven Community College and Pitt Community College, respectively.

COA's service to its seven-county region is “widely acknowledged,” Schools.com said on its website, noting the college’s campuses in Elizabeth City, Edenton-Chowan and Currituck and Dare counties. The company also highlighted COA for its online learning options, noting almost 75 percent of the college’s students take at least one class via distance learning.

Online and distance learning help make education more accessible to people who live far from COA campuses or have to juggle work and families.COA also “ranked among the top North Carolina community colleges for affordability,” the article also stated.

Good point from ThinkCurrituck.com:

North Carolina's community colleges are playing an increasingly important role in economic development: "Community colleges generate new opportunities for students and their communities. North Carolina considers them vital for economic growth, and invests in them accordingly: its community college system is the third largest in the nation, by number of schools."

(ThinkCurrituck.com is Currituck County's website for economic development and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to move or start a business along the Currituck Outer Banks.)

It is definitely great news for the Outer Banks and Eastern North Carolina. Congratulations College of the Albemarle from everyone here at Red Sky Realty Group.
